Frank Whittaker was the first Bishop of Medak〔K. M. George, ''Church of South India: Life in Union, 1947-1997'', Jointly published by Indian Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge, New Delhi and Christava Sahitya Samithi, Tiruvalla, 1999. p. 272.()〕 in the Church of South India, with his see in Medak in the Indian state of Hyderabad. Originally a Methodist, he became a bishop when several denominations in India merged to form the Church of South India in 1947.
